Hoar Cross Hall Spa review

Hi Beauties,

One of the most enjoyable treats that I (Jessica) encountered for a mini break was a one night spa experience at the former stately home - Hoar Cross Hall, located just outside Uttoxeter in Staffordshire. It has to be one of the most relaxing experiences I have ever had. !I went with my mum, my Auntie and 3 of her friends. We had a fabulous time which began when we went to our spacious rooms where there was fluffy robes and slippers waiting, beautiful chintz chairs, lovely comfortable beds and a stunning view over the immaculate gardens. My mum had a card which was hand written wishing her a happy 50th birthday, she was really touched with this. The staff couldn't do enough for us.

We soon put on our swimming costumes and went to the state of the art spa and leisure facilities which was located in the basement much to my surprise. Wow is all I can say, it included saltwater vitality and hydrotherapy and cold plunge pools, a starlit cave, numerous whirlpools, plunge pools, heat and ice experiences, heated loungers, sensory showers, state of the art gym, 50 treatment rooms and luxurious changing rooms. The facilities were so vast that I quite often got lost - better signage is needed however the helpful staff soon showed us the way when needed. My highlight had to be on the next day where I read my book and quietly snoozed in a suspended pod, big enough for 2 people to sit in, with plush carpets and soothing music.

The food was first class although it was quite unusual as we have to choose our 3 course meal from the al a carte menu as soon as we arrived so it could be prepared. Because there was a group of 6 we were escorted to the library which was really cosy with views over the garden. I had mushroom soup for starter, chicken with spinach and dauphinoise potatoes and passion fruit cheesecake with a macaroon. The breakfast was also to a high standard including gluten free options and I would definitely recommend the sausages and freshly cooked scrambled egg. Once again the service was unobtrusive and all the staff were friendly, however I did find it strange to see some guests in their dressing gowns. Included in the price was an indulgent lunch where I had salad for starter, ravioli with salmon and chocolate pudding with custard which definitely was the highlight.

We were able to use the facilities up until 5:30 so I took the opportunity to do some retail therapy, a bit pricey but wonderfully packaged. Finally I treated my mum to a cocktail porn star martini in the long gallery while waiting for our lift back home. I left feeling totally relaxed, soft and cleansed skin, an air of contentment and definitely well fed. I would recommend the spa break for anyone feeling in need of a rest.

Could not rate this spa highly enough and despite not taking many pictures (was too relaxed to remember to look on my phone) I felt like I needed to review this spa hotel.

As always,
